When I was 18, I went on tour with Lil Baby as a videographer and video editor. Every night after shows, I was editing music videos and event recaps from around 11 PM until 4 or 5 in the morning, sometimes running on zero sleep. It was fun, but it was also one of the most draining work experiences I’ve ever had.
The hardest part wasn’t the creative work. It was the repetitive, mundane tasks that took up almost all of my time. Cutting to the beat, removing shaky and blurry clips, trimming bad takes, duplicating adjustment layers, applying the same camera shakes over and over. It felt like work a bot should be doing, not a human editor.
