A while back, I was editing an event recap from a convention, hundreds of clips, a couple interview segments, and a music track I hadn’t even chosen yet. I remember just sitting there dragging clips into the timeline, trimming shaky shots, trying to line things up to the beat… and thinking, this is the same exact process every single time. It wasn’t creative work yet, it was just setup. And that part alone was taking hours before I could even start making the video feel like something.
That’s what led me to build AutoEdit Event Recap Mode. I didn’t want another tool that just adds effects or speeds up one small part of editing. I wanted something that could take raw footage, B-roll, interviews, a song, and actually build a usable rough cut for me. The kind of starting point where you can immediately jump into creative decisions instead of spending half your day organizing clips and cutting to the beat.

The way it works now is honestly how I always wished editing worked. You drop in your music track, upload your B-roll, and optionally include interview clips if you have them. From there, the plugin detects the BPM (or you can tap it manually), trims out shaky or unusable footage, and automatically builds a timeline that’s already cut to the beat. If you included interviews, it analyzes those too, pulling out actual usable quotes so you don’t have to sit there rewatching everything just to find one good line. That alone used to take me forever.
Once the rough cut is built, you’re not locked into anything, you can still tweak everything. But now you’re starting from something that already feels like a video. You can apply camera shakes, film burns, sound effects, and title cards directly inside the plugin, and even control how intense or subtle those effects are. It’s not about replacing editing, it’s about skipping the part that slows you down before the creative work even begins.
If you want to see exactly how I use it step-by-step, I broke everything down in this tutorial: Watch Here

If you’re editing event recaps consistently, weddings, concerts, festivals, conventions, this changes the workflow completely. You’re no longer building from zero every time. You’re starting with momentum. And that’s the difference between spending hours just getting started versus actually making something good. Check out the plugin HERE.
