There have only been about two moments in my life where I've had this feeling...
The first time was when I was in second grade, playing Minecraft for the first time. I'm being dead ass. I didn't know it at the time, and I feel like none of us did, but that was actually the start of a whole era of our lives of being able to create and build literally whatever you could imagine (and to be able to think outside the box, no pun inntended)
That feeling of staying up until 1 a.m., building your city or your town, creating a world with your friends, or playing minigames was unprecedented. It was a magical feeling, like the world was your oyster. Because it literally was. You owned the world. You owned your Xbox. You could make anything.
I haven't felt that feeling for almost 10 years.
Until today.
Right now, we're livingthrough a once-in-a-civilization moment. This is something I've been thinking about a lot recently, and I wanted to write a thesis on it before the thought leaves me. Partly for myself, but also for anyone else who happens to read it :)
A Mandate to Build
Right now, we are living in a once-in-a-civilization era event.
With automation and AI, if you are lucky enough to be born somewhere where you do not have to worry about immediate survival needs, shelter, or putting food on the table, you are living in an incredibly, incredibly momentous period of humanity.
It still gives me chills thinking about how lucky we are to have been born during this opportunity and this exact period of time.
I want to start with this prhase:
Enormous amounts of opportunity and revenue are often generated in short periods of time (spread out by long periods of grind).
Right now is one of those times.
We are living in a defining moment for the way that a lot of future humanity will work and operate. And we actually have the power, in a sense, to set some of those rules.
We have the power to build tools that shape the way we interact with our current technologies, our future technologies, and even to build those future technologies themselves.
I think that is so crazy.
The Rate of Innovation Acceleration...
If you look at the chart of innovation, I am not talking about the Diffusion of Innovation curve. I am talking about the actual rate of innovation creation over the past millennia.
The amount of time between each major innovation gets exponentially smaller and smaller. Obviously, as more technologies exist, we have more resources and more tools available to create the next set of technologies.
Every tool gives us the ability to make more tools and more creations.
I feel like right now, more than ever, we are at the absolute pinnacle of our ability to create new technologies and new innovations. We can make things at a rate that no other human in history has ever been able to create.
That is the part that really hits me.
Somebody with a laptop can have an idea, research it, design it, build it, test it, and put it in front of people faster than entire companies could have done not that long ago.
That is an insane amount of leverage to have as one person.
This Is Not About Gooning Over AI Agents
Tools like Codex, Claude, Perplexity, and Hermes are obviously helpful.
But I am not trying to write another article glazing agents and saying, “Wow, AI agents are so amazing,” or just completely gooning over AI agents.
That is not really my point.
The point is what you are now able to create with them.
The distance between an idea in your head and an actual working thing has become dramatically shorter. You can move from thinking about something to building it at a speed that would have sounded ridiculous only a few years ago.
And I think we are still very early in understanding what that actually means.
You Have an Obligation to Build
To anybody who is grateful enough and lucky enough to be in a position where you do not have to worry about food on the table or shelter over your head, I honestly think you have an obligation to build.
It is irresponsible not to build, or at least not to try, because this is such an insane period of humanity.
I think it came way faster than anybody expected. It definitely came faster than I expected.
And the more that it hits me, the more I realize that you actually have a genuine, mandatory obligation to create if you have ideas, or even just the urge to create a somewhat better world in the future.
I am not saying everybody needs to build some billion-dollar company. I am saying that if there is something you have wanted to create, something you believe should exist, or some problem you keep thinking about, now is the time to act on it.
You have to build it.
You just have to build it.
Why I'm Writing This
This piece has nothing to do with video editing, AI tools, promotion, SEO, AEO, or hacking an algorithm.
I just wanted to put together my thoughts and make a journal entry of what I am thinking right now, on August 1, 2026.
We are living in one of the craziest periods of humanity. We have access to more knowledge, more computing power, more distribution, and more creative leverage than anybody before us.
And if you are lucky enough to have the time, safety, and space to create, I do not think that opportunity should be wasted.
At least try.
Build the idea. Make the tool. Start the project. Put something into the world that was not there before.
Because right now, the future is being built extremely fast, and we have the ability to be some of the people building it.
The Thesis
- We are living through a once-in-a-civilization moment.
- The time between major innovations is getting shorter and shorter.
- We can create at a rate that no other humans in history have been able to create.
- AI agents are useful, but the important part is what they allow people to build.
- If your immediate survival needs are met and you have ideas, you have an obligation to at least try to create them.
- Now is the time to act.
I know a lotta people will say this and i tmay sound corny af, but like deadass more so than ever, especially right now:
You literally get to choose the future. If you have a dream or idea on how to make the world better, this is mandatoy...
You have to build something.
