How to Import Files into Music Video Mode
Watch this tutorial before starting your edit. It explains what files to upload, how to upload them correctly, and which file types are supported.
Important: Upload by clicking the upload buttons. Do not drag and drop files into the plugin.
Import Checklist
Upload exactly one music track.
Upload your performance takes. These should be full takes of the artist performing the song.
B-roll is optional. Upload it only if you want AutoEdit to use B-roll clips.
Use Shift to select multiple performance clips or B-roll clips at once.
Supported video formats: MP4 and MOV.
Unsupported formats include MXF and BRAW.
Avoid cheap online converters because corrupted files may fail to import correctly.
🎬 Using AutoEdit™ — Overview
Watch the full tutorial below to learn how to use AutoEdit™ Music Video Mode.
Note: This tutorial was recorded on an older version of the plugin.
Users no longer need to enable Reduced Security Mode on Mac. The current installer handles everything automatically.
🎚️ BPM Detector
The BPM Detector analyzes your music track and places beat markers automatically so AutoEdit can cut your performance clips to the rhythm.
Plugin stuck on "Detecting BPM"
Occasionally the plugin may freeze on the detecting BPM screen.
This is usually caused by a cached plugin state in Premiere.
Mac Fix
Close Premiere Pro.
Open Finder → Documents and delete the folder named MAC.
Reopen Premiere Pro while holding OPT / ALT to reset the plugin loading cache.
Create a new blank project and run a test using only the music track and performance clips (no B-roll yet).
BPM means beats per minute. This controls where AutoEdit places cuts to match the rhythm of your song.
If you already know the exact BPM of your song, you can type it in manually.
If the BPM shows as NaN, you are likely using an older version of the plugin. Reinstall the latest version using the install tutorial.
Edit Type
Staircase cuts between your performance takes in order, such as take 1, take 2, take 3, then repeats.
Manual stacks your performance takes and applies cuts without choosing takes for you.
Random automatically alternates between the different performance takes you uploaded.
Important: Upload full performance takes that cover the full length of the song. If your takes are too short, you may see gaps in the timeline because there is not enough footage to fill the edit.
Collapse Timeline
The Collapse checkbox flattens the finished edit into one track after AutoEdit creates the sequence.
Use this if you want a cleaner timeline that is easier to review and continue editing.
Edit Speed
Fast works best for high-energy hip hop, rap, or fast-paced music videos.
Chill works better for slower songs, R&B, or calmer visuals.
Variation mixes different cut speeds so the edit has more variety.
Start Time
Use Start Time if the beat does not begin at the very start of the song.
For example, if your song has a voiceover intro and the beat starts after 5 seconds, set the start time to 5 seconds.
Markers
Choose whether you want AutoEdit to add beat markers to your Premiere timeline.
Markers can help you manually review, adjust, or continue editing after AutoEdit builds the rough cut.
🎞️ B-Roll Selector
The B-Roll Selector trims your uploaded B-roll clips and creates a selects timeline that AutoEdit can use when building your music video rough cut.
Trim B-Roll
Click Trim B-Roll to let AutoEdit analyze your B-roll clips.
The newer version no longer uses a shakiness slider.
The plugin automatically looks for shaky, blurry, or unusable parts at the beginning and end of clips.
It then creates a B-roll selects sequence for the plugin to use.
B-Roll Quick Selects Timeline
The selects timeline may be named something like B-roll Quick Selects followed by a number.
This is not your finished music video.
This sequence is mainly used by AutoEdit as a source for selected B-roll moments.
You can review it if you want to see what the plugin trimmed and selected.
Important: The B-Roll Selector is not designed to perfectly choose the best creative moments. It mainly helps remove unusable shaky or blurry parts from the beginning and end of clips.
Not Enough B-Roll
If you do not upload enough B-roll, AutoEdit may repeat clips to fill the full length of the song.
Upload more B-roll if you want the final rough cut to feel more varied.
The more usable footage you provide, the better the starting timeline will be.
✂️ Automatic Cutting
Automatic Cutting creates your music video rough cut by syncing performance takes, cutting to the BPM, and using your selected settings.
Before You Auto Cut
Upload one music track.
Upload full performance takes that cover the full length of the song.
Upload B-roll if you want B-roll included in the edit.
Choose your BPM, edit type, edit speed, start time, and marker settings.
What AutoEdit Creates
AutoEdit builds a structured rough cut inside Premiere Pro.
It cuts your performance clips to the beat of the song.
If B-roll is included, AutoEdit uses the B-roll selects timeline to place B-roll into the edit.
The result is a starting timeline that you can continue editing manually.
Important: Automatic Cutting does not create a final polished music video. It creates a rough draft and timeline foundation so you can spend less time on setup and more time making creative decisions.
If You See Gaps
Gaps usually happen when your performance takes are not long enough to cover the song.
Make sure your performance clips are full takes from the beginning to the end of the track.
If a clip starts late, ends early, or misses parts of the song, AutoEdit may not have footage available for that section.
✨ VFX Tools
The VFX Tools let you apply overlays, AI-based effects, sound effects, and title cards to your music video edit.
Manual VFX
Use Manual VFX when you want to apply effects to any timeline, including older edits that were not created by AutoEdit.
Choose an effect type such as CRT, energy, film borders, film burns, low shutter, and more.
Browse the variations under each effect category.
Use the preview thumbnails to choose the effect you want.
Click Insert at Playhead to place the effect directly where your playhead is in Premiere.
AI VFX
Use AI VFX only on a sequence created by AutoEdit’s automatic cutting feature.
The AI VFX tool needs AutoEdit cut points to know where effects should be placed.
If you are working on an older timeline or a manually edited sequence, use Manual VFX instead.
Effect Types
Select the VFX categories you want to use by toggling them on.
Available styles may include chrome, CRT, energy, film burns, low shutter, and other visual effects.
Energy effects require extra setup with object masking to get the intended final look.
How to Apply Energy VFX
Energy Effects: These may require duplicating a layer, masking the subject, and applying the effect to the layer below. Check the dedicated energy effect tutorial before using them in a final edit.
Effect Intensity
Title Cards
Click the title card icon to browse title card presets.
Click Insert at Playhead to place a title card into your timeline.
Title cards are installed as MOGRT files on your computer.
You can adjust text, color, font size, position, rotation, and other settings in Premiere’s properties panel.
Need Help?
Email support: team@elevenpercent.net
You can also join the Discord server for faster support and future updates.
🛠️ Manual VFX Applier
Apply transitions/effects manually wherever you want.
Green-screen assets still require Premiere’s Ultra Key to remove green.
✨ AI VFX Applier
Works only on sequences created by AutoEdit (it needs the known cut points).
Choose effect types (e.g., CRT, film burns), set intensity (% of cuts to receive effects), and apply.
🅰️ Title Card Applier
Insert a template at playhead, then customize text and properties in the Essential Graphics panel.
🎥 Master Support Video
This covers first-time install, updating V1→V2, using each feature, and the most common fixes.
Your Mac is likely still on enhanced security. See Reduced Security and repeat steps until it sticks.
Alternate cleanup: open Finder → Go → Go to Folder → paste /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/ → delete com.autoedit.extension, then reinstall from the .dmg.
Page one is where you upload your music track, optional interview clips, and required B-roll clips for AutoEdit™ Event Recap Mode.
Important: Upload files by clicking the upload buttons. Do not drag and drop files into the plugin because it can break the import flow.
Music Track
Upload one music track first.
WAV files work best, especially for BPM detection.
MP3 files can also work, but if BPM detection has issues, try switching to WAV.
Interview Clips
Interview clips are optional.
Use this section for testimonials, talking-head clips, customer interviews, or people speaking to camera.
For best results, make sure the interview audio is clear, loud, and easy to understand.
B-Roll Clips
B-roll clips are required. Without B-roll, the plugin cannot create the event recap edit.
Upload enough B-roll to cover the full length of your song.
If you upload too few B-roll clips, AutoEdit may repeat clips until the song is finished.
The event recap timeline is built to match the full length of the music track.
Supported video formats: MP4 and MOV.
Avoid unsupported formats like MXF and BRAW.
AutoEdit is meant to build a structured rough cut. The B-roll selector may remove shaky or blurry parts from the beginning and end of clips, but it will not perfectly understand the meaning or best moment of every shot.
🎚️ BPM Detector
The BPM Detector calculates the beats per minute of your music track so AutoEdit can cut your event recap to the rhythm of the song.
Auto Detect BPM
After importing your files, click Auto Detect BPM.
The plugin will analyze your music track and calculate the BPM.
Once detection is complete, you can adjust the BPM manually if needed.
If you already know the exact BPM of the song, you can change it before moving forward.
Cut Speed
Fast creates quicker cuts and works well for high-energy recaps.
Medium gives a balanced recap pace.
Slow creates longer clips and works better for calmer, slower event videos.
Variation mixes fast, medium, and slow cuts while still cutting to the beat.
Manual Tap Mode
Use Manual Tap Mode if auto detection freezes or gives you a BPM you do not like.
The song will play, and you tap along to the beat.
The plugin estimates the tempo based on your taps.
After tapping, you can still adjust the detected BPM before continuing.
If BPM Detection Gets Stuck
Close the plugin.
Restart Premiere Pro.
Try again with a WAV version of the music track if possible.
If it keeps getting stuck, reinstall the plugin using the install tutorial.
The Interviews page lets you analyze your uploaded interview clips and choose the quotes you want to include in your event recap.
Before You Start
You must upload interview clips on the import page to use this section.
Interview clips work best when the person is speaking clearly.
Make sure the audio is loud enough for the plugin to analyze.
Selecting Interview Quote Length
Use the quote length slider to choose how long you want most interview quotes to be.
For example, if you do not want quotes longer than about 45 seconds, set the slider near that range.
Click Analyze Interviews to let the plugin find usable quote sections.
Choosing Quotes
After analysis, the plugin will display available interview quotes.
Select the quotes you want to include in your edit.
Selected quotes are numbered in the order you choose them.
The order you select the quotes affects how they are placed into the documentary-style edit.
If Interview Analysis Gets Stuck on Mac
Open System Settings.
Go to Privacy & Security.
Open Full Disk Access.
Make sure your version of Premiere Pro is enabled.
Close Premiere Pro, reopen it, and try again.
If the issue continues, reinstall the plugin.
If you still need help, email team@elevenpercent.net.
🎞️ Documentary Mode
Documentary Mode places your selected interview quotes into the event recap timeline and automatically lowers the music volume so the interviews can be heard.
Fixed Spacing
Fixed Spacing places interview clips after a consistent number of B-roll clips.
This works well when you want interviews to appear regularly throughout the recap.
It can create a documentary feel where B-roll plays while the interview audio supports the story.
Evenly Spread
Evenly Spread distributes the selected interview quotes across the entire timeline.
This works well when you want interviews spaced evenly from beginning to end.
The plugin calculates placement based on the full number of clips in the rough cut.
Auto Rough Cut
After choosing your documentary style, click Auto Rough Cut.
The plugin will place your selected interview quotes into the event recap timeline.
Music audio is automatically ducked during interview sections so the speaker is easier to hear.
The result is a rough cut that you can continue refining creatively inside Premiere Pro.
Documentary Mode is not meant to create a finished final edit. It gives you a structured foundation so you can focus on story, pacing, and creative choices.
✨ VFX Tools
The VFX page lets you apply visual effects, sound effects, and title cards to your Event Recap Mode rough cut.
Visual Effects
You can apply effects such as camera shakes, low shutter looks, film burns, and other recap-style effects.
Select the effects you want before applying them to the timeline.
Effects are placed automatically across the edit based on your cut points.
Sound Effects
You can also add sound effects such as risers, crowd sounds, impacts, and whooshes.
Sound effects are placed around the edit to add energy and movement.
Effect Intensity
The effect intensity controls how often effects are applied.
For example, if your edit has 100 cuts and the intensity is set to 80%, around 80 of those cuts may receive effects.
Use a lower intensity for a cleaner edit and a higher intensity for a more aggressive recap style.
Clip Is Not Long Enough Error
This can happen when a selected B-roll highlight is shorter than the effect or clip length needed.
Double-click the green sequence or nested clip shown in Premiere.
Extend the clip layer until the visible screen area is covered.
Return to the main sequence and continue applying effects.
Title Cards and Lower Thirds
After the VFX page, you can continue to title cards.
Title cards can be applied to interview sections.
Lower thirds are placed at the start of interview clips.
To edit the name, select the title card in Premiere and update the text in Effect Controls.
VFX tools are meant to enhance the rough cut. After applying effects, review the edit manually and adjust anything that feels too intense, repeated, or out of place.
🆘 Event Recap Troubleshooting
If you see missing media for two Film Burn files, the installer likely renamed them incorrectly.
Look for files:
@devinhuynh_Film Burn 27
@devinhuynh_Film Burn 28
Duplicate each file.
Rename them to:
@devinhuynh_Film Burn 27-1
@devinhuynh_Film Burn 28-1
After duplicating and renaming the files Premiere will automatically relink them.
TypeError: undefined is not an object during B-Roll Analysis
This error usually happens during the B-roll analysis step when one or more uploaded video files are not supported.
Most Common Cause
Only use native MP4 or MOV video files.
Unsupported formats like MXF or BRAW can cause this error.
Bad file converters can also corrupt clips and trigger this issue.
Avoid mixed file extensions like C08484.mp4.mov.
Each file should have only one file format, such as C08484.mp4 or C08484.mov.
How to Fix It
Close the plugin.
Restart the process from the beginning and use the "Quick Mode" option, NOT "Higher Accuracy" during the B-roll settings page.
Re-add your files using only native MP4 or MOV clips.
Do not use MXF, BRAW, or files converted through unreliable online converters.
If the issue still happens, reinstall the plugin using the install tutorial.
Important: B-roll selection will not be perfect. It is designed to cut out shaky or blurry parts at the beginning and end of clips. It cannot fully understand the context or meaning of the video.
